Early life
she born in mumbai in kapoor family. She is the granddaughter of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor. She studied commerse for two years at the Mithibai College in Vile Parle,Mumbai. She then registered for three month summer course in microcomputers at Haward University in U.S.,after compliting one year at Churchgate, she returned to her initial plan to become an actress.
Career
First she was scheduled to make her debut in Kaho na pyaar hai in 2000,opposite Hrithik Roshan. She made her first film of J.P.Dutta's Refujee. Story of indo-pakistani war of 1971. Her first role in 2001 was in the romantic film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai which become highest earners of the year. Then she starred in Subhash Ghai's film Yaadein withb Hrithik Roshan. then Abbas Mustan's thriller Ajnabee. then with SRK Ashoka. This film based on Ashoka the great. The film by Karan Johar in 2001 Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gum. Which grossing film of the year in india, the domestic total of Rs 490 million(US $10.09 million) .

In 2007 she made Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met. Which is Best film of Kareena Kapoor,in her career. which made total of Rs.303million. This film is the ladder of success for her.Then she made Tashan in 2008. She next starred Golmal Returns in 2006 which is sequel of Golmal. Golmal Returns made commercial of Rs. 500 million. then she made Kambakkht ishq.
Personal life
In 2004 she began dating with Shahid Kapoor who is a part of Jab We Met which give success to her. In present she with Chote Nawab Saif Ali Khan. In october 18,2007 she confirmed her relationship to the media.Kapoor is very close to her family
and has resided with her mother Babita for much of her life. Kapoor and her mother lived together in Lokhandwala and then at Park Avenue in Bandra, Mumbai for several years, and in 2008 Kapoor and her mother purchased adjacent flats in Khar,Mumbai designed by Akshay Kumar's wife Twinkle Khanna
