The characters of sultan and Shoaib are modeled after legendary Mumbai strongman Haaji Mastan and the allegedly Pakistan-based South-Asian crime lord Dawood lbrahim.Haji Nastan is known to have developed a close nexus with Bollywood Cinema and has actually produced films.
